Timer Off

Before we get started, please answer two short questions.
Please indicate your level of medical training:

Approximately how many months of training/practice do you have in the interpretation of chest radiographs?

Instructions

As you will be interpreting radiographs, at least a 10" screen is recommended. If possible, enter full screen mode on your browser now. If you are using a Desktop browser, this is done using the F11 key.

For each case, please identify the pulmonary abnormality and laterality, or state that the radiograph is normal. Possible pathologies include:

  • Normal (no pathology)
  • Pneumothorax
  • SPN (Solitary pulmonary nodule)
  • FC (Focal consolidation)
We will begin with a tutorial case.
Familiarize yourself with the answer choices. They are the same throughout the entire module. (SPN = Solitary pulmonary nodule. FC = Focal consolidation)

Tablet users, try both Landscape and Portrait orientation and use the one that works best.

Adjust the brightness of your screen so you can interpret the displayed radiograph.

Click on "Left Pneumothorax" when you are ready.

You will get immediate feedback on your responses, and the the finding will be pointed out on the radiograph.

A timer is available in the bottom right hand corner. You will get a full 15 seconds for each case.

You may drag the timer to move it, including moving it off screen to hide it.

The timer for each case starts after the image is displayed.

This module should take about 20 minutes.

You are ready to begin. Click "Next>>" to start your first case.

Before we finish, we will ask you several brief demographic questions.
Did you find this module helpful? Interesting? Write a short comment below.
Please rate your agreement with the following statement:

Traditional methods of learning to differentiate normal from abnormal chest radiographs (i.e.- textbooks, workstation readouts, conferences, etc) are an efficient means of learning.

Please rate your agreement with the following statement:

Traditional methods of learning to differentiate normal from abnormal chest radiographs (i.e.- textbooks, workstation readouts, conferences, etc) can be improved upon.

The following question pertains to modules such as the one you just completed, including normal and abnormal radiographs with rapid feedback.

These modules are an efficient means of learning.

The following question pertains to modules such as the one you just completed, including normal and abnormal radiographs with rapid feedback.

These modules are helpful for training medical students learning to differentiate normal from abnormal chest radiographs.

The following question pertains to modules such as the one you just completed, including normal and abnormal radiographs with rapid feedback.

This style could be used, and would be helpful, for learning normal versus abnormal findings in other radiology modalites (for example VQ scans and different forms of intracranial hemorrhage).
